Recent Art Finds - enough to make me rich? Not quite

Well hibbidy dibbdy here we go...the beginning of a blog for show. Okay world let's have a go..and I think that will be the end of my rhyming or at least trying to rhyme. Lately, in order to avoid going absolutely mad whilst looking for work in that mad cap world we call Manhattan, I've developed a new sport - hunting for art in the most unlikely places.

It started about amonth ago. I was feeling a bit blue having just been told in oh so many words that I was "too old" for the job. Not quite enough words to make for a good discrimination case, but you get the general idea. As I was driving home I noticed a "garage sale" sign outside a lovely cottage. I stopped and went into the garage and fell in love with a lithograph of a woman and her two dogs. I had to have it. But how much I wondered? How far could I stretch my meager unemployment dollars. I asked the middle-aged woman and she said, "ten dollars." I was thinking that it was worth about 500. So I snagged it up. She tried to sell me a print, but I was happy with the woman and the dogs. I also spotted an Allgood piece. The following weekend I went to her for this and she was on to me and charged me 25.00!!! But I paid it. Little did she know that as it turns out the dog piece was worth far more.

I decided to create this space so that I could show you the different pieces that I've picked up and then let you know how they fare in the art market. I stuck up a deal with a local antiques dealer and we split the profits 50/50. He doesn't care where the work comes from because as he says, "I have a good eye" for art. But that's entirely another story.

You see, I've been in the art world and surrounded by art and artists for most of my life. I was born into this world - and it isn't an easy one. We creatives are not like the others. I was coloring and drawing and painting and writing and singing and writing music for as long as I can remember - not really a passion, more like our life blood. But you who know, well, know!

I hope that you will get to see a lot of art here that you wouldn't otherwise know, add in your comments and tips and come along on my journey, how does the song go, "I wanna be a millionaire, so freakin' bad..." I hear it from time to time at one of the many charity shops I visit en route the rainbow connection...just heard Kermit sing on youtube and it set me soaring.

You see, when you're down and out...well, as I heard in an old western once upon a time by Nat King Cole, "It must be nice when you have the price to lose, yes it must be nice when you have the price to lose, I don't have the price, so's thats a why I sing the blues."

And with that I will leave you as I want to post the pics and quite frankly have to figure out how.

Have a great day and happy treasure hunting!
